After some careless play in the U21 Australia defense, Vitaly Stalovich kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kent Sobezak. The U21 Australia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kent Sobezak should have stopped the shot. If Vitaly Stalovich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 20th minute, Mark Viduka ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vladislav Chupris was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 26th minute Kastus Livanovich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kent Sobezak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Alex Goodwin dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Vladislav Chupris, 2-1. Vladislav Chupris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carver Mclatchey in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Mark Viduka left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Australia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. The crowd rose to their feet as U21 Australia's Brown Mitchell slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vladislav Chupris. That made the score 4-1 after 37 minutes of play. U21 Belarus's Vladislav Chupris proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Belarus from getting a goal against them. Vladislav Chupris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carver Mclatchey in the 43rd minute of play. Kastus Livanovich received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Kent Sobezak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of U21 Belarus booed when U21 Australia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mark Viduka didn't get a good kick on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kastus Livanovich to make the kick off. Carver Mclatchey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Vladislav Chupris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steve Burmeister kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 55th minute by Vitaly Stalovich got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Vitaly Stalovich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kent Sobezak having to interfere. U21 Australia's Kent Sobezak proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Australia from getting a goal against them. Quade Markou hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. U21 Belarus's Vladislav Chupris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carver Mclatchey in the 63rd minute of play. In the 65th minute Carver Mclatchey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladislav Chupris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 66 minutes into the match, Steve Burmeister had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vladislav Chupris. U21 Belarus's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Steve Burmeister was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. 75 minutes into the game, Astap Urash was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Belarus's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Australia the free kick. After 75 played minutes U21 Belarus got a freekick which was hit by Astap Urash. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carver Mclatchey in the 80th minute of play forced U21 Belarus's goalkeeper Vladislav Chupris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute Carver Mclatchey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladislav Chupris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 85 minutes into the game, U21 Australia's Carver Mclatchey nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vladislav Chupris made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-2. Quade Markou's late challenge caught a U21 Belarus's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Quade Markou helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to U21 Australia getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Quade Markou hit a great ball. Carlisle Fenwick took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vladislav Chupris. Vladislav Chupris dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 8-2. Mark Viduka struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Vladislav Chupris didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Australia. For all the effort they put into the match, the U21 Belarus players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for U21 Australia.
