In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Argentina's goalkeeper Marciano Manex, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Claudio Domeka struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Platon Balanzuela didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Argentina. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Marcial Veremundo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Platon Balanzuela came out of the goal and Marcial Veremundo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Platon Balanzuela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Domeka in the 46th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dantae Lahoz to make the kick off. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 74th minute, Alfonso Gai hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 75 minutes into the match, Argentina's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Chavez came free, but Marciano Manex reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 76th minute Paraguay were awarded a corner. Ignacio Fonseca went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Paraguay's corner Ignacio Fonseca fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Marciano Manex quite easily take care of the ball. Marciano Manex took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Chavez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes into the game, Alfonso Gai threw the ball into play from the sideline. Paraguay's Paquito Lago quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. When Argentina's Carmelo Santio in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 90th match minute, Argentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfonso Gai to maneuver through the defense. Paraguay's Platon Balanzuela proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Paraguay from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Argentina had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
