Italy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Davide Di Mascio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Italy's goalkeeper Cristoforo Savoia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Italy's Enrico Piccirilli quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Taka Kobiashvili, made in the 15th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Davide Di Mascio in the 16th minute of play forced Georgia's goalkeeper Taka Levidze to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristoforo Savoia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Goderdzi Pawletko in the 17th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Georgia's Goderdzi Pawletko slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cristoforo Savoia. That made the score 1-0 after 19 minutes of play. Cristoforo Savoia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marat Beroshvili in the 26th minute. Davide Di Mascio struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Taka Levidze didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Italy. 29 minutes into the game, Goderdzi Pawletko recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cristoforo Savoia. Goderdzi Pawletko showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Davide Di Mascio in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Taka Levidze saved Georgia from getting behind. After 34 minutes Georgia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Fedele Savoia who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Fedele Savoia almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Georgia's Taka Levidze did a great save. Enrico Piccirilli made in the 39th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Georgia's Khvicha Bitsadze. Taka Levidze made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davide Di Mascio in the 41st minute of play. Cristoforo Savoia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Goderdzi Pawletko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Enrico Piccirilli got a throw-in 53 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Fedele Savoia. Georgia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 55th minute, when Davide Di Mascio scored to the left of an out of position Taka Levidze, making the score, 2-2. Khristesia Torotadze kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Georgia made a substitution. Shota Jandieri replaced Illarion Aragvsky. After 64 played minutes Georgia got a freekick which was hit by Khristesia Torotadze. Italy's Fedele Savoia got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Georgia's goalkeeper Taka Levidze, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 74th minute, Aldo Di Biagio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Italy getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Aldo Di Biagio hit a great ball. In the 79thth minute of the game Gocha Torotadze who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Italy's Cristoforo Savoia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Gocha Torotadze came free, but Cristoforo Savoia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute Gocha Torotadze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristoforo Savoia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Georgia's Khvicha Bitsadze got a free kick in the 84th minute. Fedele Savoia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Taka Levidze made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davide Di Mascio in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Gocha Torotadze left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Georgia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. In the 93rd minute, Khristesia Torotadze hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute of the match Fedele Savoia shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Taka Levidze showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelo Banana in the 97th minute of play forced Georgia's goalkeeper Taka Levidze to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
