In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belarus's goalkeeper Stepan Firago, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Reiner Fallas got free with Stepan Firago in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Perez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Stepan Firago made a huge save. 13 minutes into the match, Belarus's goal looked a bit too open when Reiner Fallas came free, but Stepan Firago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Belarus's Vadim Litvin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lucas Loaiza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alfredo Lankaster received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Stepan Firago came out and tried to block the shot, but Alfredo Lankaster slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 21st minute. Stepan Firago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reiner Fallas in the 23rd minute of play. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Belarus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filimon Galushko didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Belarus getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Filimon Galushko hit a great ball. 29 minutes into the match, Belarus's goal looked a bit too open when Reiner Fallas came free, but Stepan Firago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Belarus's Stepan Firago got control of the ball when Daniel Perez tried to sneak it across the goal line. Stepan Firago made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Daniel Perez sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Perez in the 37th minute of play forced Belarus's goalkeeper Stepan Firago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute, Oleg Bloh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Reiner Fallas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Stepan Firago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reiner Fallas to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Belarus's Filimon Galushko got a free kick in the 50th minute. Belarus's Stepan Firago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Perez in the 51st minute of play. Costa Rica's Johan Loria was substituted for Celso Rosales. Costa Rica's Wilbert Montoya was substituted for Nino Rivas. After 57 played minutes Belarus got a freekick which was hit by Vladimir Razuvaichyk. Lucas Loaiza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergey Demchenko in the 63rd minute of the match. After 66 minutes Costa Rica's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Oleg Rukevich who took care of the corner kick. Stepan Firago stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Johan Loria's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Celso Mesa struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Stepan Firago didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. 74 minutes into the match, Belarus's goal looked a bit too open when Reiner Fallas came free, but Stepan Firago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stepan Firago came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica's Alfredo Lankaster. But to his dismay, Alfredo Lankaster quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Lucas Loaiza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergey Demchenko in the 80th minute of play. Belarus's Stepan Firago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celso Mesa in the 82nd minute of play. Stepan Firago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reiner Fallas, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Stepan Firago showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Lankaster in the 87th minute of the match. Belarus's Stepan Firago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johan Loria in the 88th minute of play. In the 90th minute Costa Rica were awarded a corner. Felipe Palacios went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 93rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo Lankaster to maneuver through the defense. 95 minutes into the match, Belarus's goal looked a bit too open when Reiner Fallas came free, but Stepan Firago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Belarus players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Costa Rica.
