Roberto Brau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gaitan Gabriel made a great header on U21 Colombia's corner, it was just that U21 Venezuela's Erasmo Secanell managed to reach the ball for a save. Erasmo Secanell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Faustino Asprilla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kimetz Pejuan made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Roberto Brau sent off a good shot on target. 19 minutes into the match, U21 Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Helder Cadanes came free, but Erasmo Secanell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Roberto Brau kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Kimetz Pejuan. That made the score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. Helder Cadanes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Josu Valls's late challenge caught a U21 Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Josu Valls helped the player get up and apologised. In the 24th minute, Josu Valls hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Genaro Oria hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After 36 minutes U21 Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gaitan Gabriel who took care of the corner kick. A collision led to U21 Venezuela getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Gerardo Ruiz hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, U21 Venezuela's Tartalo Bazquez got a free kick in the 42nd minute. 43 minutes into the match, U21 Colombia's goalkeeper Kimetz Pejuan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roberto Brau. A collision led to U21 Venezuela getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Artur Modet hit a great ball. Roberto Brau might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kimetz Pejuan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Roberto Brau ran back to his position shaking his head. Roberto Brau could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Kimetz Pejuan made a huge save. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

U21 Colombia made a substitution. Charlie Harper replaced Faustino Asprilla. U21 Colombia's Rosalio Rescuro was substituted for Josu Valls. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rosalio Rescuro to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, U21 Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Yanes to maneuver through the defense. Erasmo Secanell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charlie Harper in the 56th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charlie Harper in the 61st minute of play forced U21 Venezuela's goalkeeper Erasmo Secanell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 Venezuela were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after U21 Colombia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Roberto Brau took the corner. An unexpectedly hard shot by Helder Cadanes in the 69th minute of play forced U21 Venezuela's goalkeeper Erasmo Secanell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rosendo Aulestia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erasmo Secanell having to interfere. U21 Venezuela's Romel Gómez was substituted for Roberto Brau. After 76 played minutes U21 Colombia got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Villagran. With an all-out effort, U21 Colombia's Erasmo Secanell threw himself towards the right post 81 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Charlie Harper, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Erasmo Secanell made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Helder Cadanes sent off a good shot on target. U21 Venezuela's Erasmo Secanell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charlie Harper in the 86th minute of play. If Romel Gómez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Arias Baltanas hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. U21 Venezuela were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of U21 Colombia for a fine match.
