Poland's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Poland's goalkeeper Gigi Buffon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 23 minutes, Răzvan Pârvuță made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Poland's Gigi Buffon tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Răzvan Pârvuță in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gigi Buffon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 26 minutes, Răzvan Pârvuță made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Poland's Gigi Buffon tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Poland's goalkeeper Gigi Buffon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dan Mândru showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Radomir Czerner, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. In the 36th minute, Răzvan Pârvuță ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gigi Buffon was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. In the 44th minute, Gustaw Petrasz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Poland fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

Dan Mândru made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaw Petrasz in the 52nd minute. Gigi Buffon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Răzvan Pârvuță, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 56 minutes into the match, Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaw Petrasz came free, but Dan Mândru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gigi Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Răzvan Pârvuță, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. 59 minutes into the match, Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaw Petrasz came free, but Dan Mândru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Petrică Cosoreanu made in the 75th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Dan Apopei. 76 minutes into the match, Romania's Răzvan Pârvuță sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gigi Buffon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 79 minutes into the match, Poland's goal looked a bit too open when Liviu Caramitru came free, but Gigi Buffon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Romania's Dan Mândru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Radomir Czerner in the 82nd minute of play. Janusz Škarpa kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Poland's Cyryl Wodaszak was substituted for Gustaw Petrasz. In the 84th minute, Janusz Škarpa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gigi Buffon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Răzvan Pârvuță went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score. 93 minutes into the game, Petrică Cosoreanu threw the ball into play from the sideline. Poland's Janusz Škarpa quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Gigi Buffon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Răzvan Pârvuță in the 95th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Poland players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Romania.
