Thijs Degens was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Bobbi Boba showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 13 minute of play. Thijs Degens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olof Roordink in the 19th minute of play. If Olof Roordink had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thijs Degens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olof Roordink, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Olof Roordink kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Thijs Degens. That made the score 2-1 in the 25 minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Olof Roordink notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Belgium's Thijs Degens. Thijs Degens was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 34 minutes into the match, Belgium's Piet Precioso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gerrie Roswinkel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gerrit De Fever hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bobbi Boba in the 40th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Thijs Degens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Piet Precioso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gerrie Roswinkel having to make a save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bobbi Boba was the one to do the kick off. Gerrie Roswinkel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Piet Precioso, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. The audience was convinced that Jurjen Woudenberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thijs Degens was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Netherlands's zone, Lando Fondria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerrie Roswinkel came out of the goal and Lando Fondria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Belgium's Thijs Degens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roderick Blind in the 72nd minute of play. When Olof Roordink came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olof Roordink couldn't finish the play. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 95th minute after Belgium's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cees van Amersfoort took the corner. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Netherlands had played much better football throughout.
