Logan Wege made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregory Gellel in the 11th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Malta's Daryl Ellul got a free kick in the 14th minute. Gregory Gellel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Logan Wege read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. Niles Lucas scored 0-2 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Antoine Pace, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 20 minutes into the match, Massimo Quintano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Logan Wege. Australia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Massimo Quintano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Antoine Pace showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edwards Heath in the 22nd minute of the match. Stephan Magro kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Niles Lucas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antoine Pace having to interfere. Antoine Pace showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernard Newton, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gregory Gellel got free with Logan Wege in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Australia's Logan Wege played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Schembri in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean Carl Dougall in the 46th minute of play forced Australia's goalkeeper Logan Wege to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 48 minutes had been played when some careless play by Australia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Clayton Fabri was slow to take the kick. During this time Malta's players had a chance to rest. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Niles Lucas to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Nero Fallen took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Antoine Pace to make any attempt to save it. In the 67th minute Niles Lucas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antoine Pace saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antoine Pace made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nero Fallen in the 68th minute of play. After 71 minutes, Niles Lucas made it 1-5 with a short kick to the right side. Malta's Antoine Pace tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Australia's Isaac Cassilly was substituted for Bernard Newton. Australia's Jordon Fordham was substituted for Niles Lucas. In the 75th minute, Jordon Fordham ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Antoine Pace was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-6. Antoine Pace made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Jordon Fordham sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 84 minutes, Jordon Fordham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Australia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jordon Fordham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 88th minute, Jordon Fordham reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Antoine Pace. The goal made the score 1-7. 91 minutes into the game, Love Street cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-8. Antoine Pace was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 95 minutes into the match, Malta's goal looked a bit too open when Jordon Fordham came free, but Antoine Pace reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 96 minutes had been played when some careless play by Malta's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Love Street was slow to take the kick. During this time Australia's players had a chance to rest. Australia's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
