An unexpectedly hard shot by Penko Kúrchev in the 6th minute of play forced U21 Denmark's goalkeeper Emmanuel Blenhart to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emmanuel Blenhart showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Penko Kúrchev in the 11th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Bulgaria's Zapryan Baykushev got a free kick in the 16th minute. Kay Stormlund could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Bozhil Gavazki made a huge save. In the 37th minute Penko Kúrchev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emmanuel Blenhart saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Penko Kúrchev took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Emmanuel Blenhart. Emmanuel Blenhart dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iliyan Planinski to strike the kick off in the second half. Andreas Verlø kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Penko Kúrchev couldn't finish the play. The U21 Bulgaria supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing U21 Bulgaria would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
