The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, U21 Venezuela's Satordi Orchua got a free kick in the 8th minute. 10 minutes into the match, U21 Venezuela's goalkeeper Calixto Cobian had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Randall Houldsworth. Calixto Cobian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christopher Markcrow, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Calixto Cobian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christopher Markcrow in the 15th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Satordi Orchua notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of U21 Australia's Darin Everett. Darin Everett was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 20th minute, Christopher Markcrow reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Calixto Cobian. The goal made the score 1-1. U21 Australia's Darin Everett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Poz Maeztu in the 24th minute of play. In the 24th minute, Poz Maeztu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After 28 minutes of play, U21 Australia's Christopher Markcrow made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Calixto Cobian was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 32nd minute of the match, Christopher Markcrow tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Calixto Cobian saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 33rd minute Poz Maeztu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darin Everett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, U21 Australia's goal looked a bit too open when Poz Maeztu came free, but Darin Everett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes into the game, Randall Houldsworth recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Calixto Cobian. Randall Houldsworth showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-2. After 41 played minutes U21 Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Victorero. Darin Everett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Poz Maeztu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Calixto Cobian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christopher Markcrow in the 45th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Randall Houldsworth to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, U21 Venezuela's Humberto Ben ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Darin Everett. Darin Everett yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-3. In the 57th match minute, U21 Australia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Terry Fletcher to maneuver through the defense. Calixto Cobian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Terry Fletcher, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After a rather tough play, U21 Venezuela's Adrian Victorero got a free kick in the 64th minute. U21 Australia's Jeffray Odonahoo was substituted for David Tinsley. U21 Australia's Kenneth Blackham was substituted for Randall Houldsworth. Adrian Victorero hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. After 70 played minutes U21 Australia got a freekick which was hit by Arne Conlin. In the 76th minute Kenneth Blackham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calixto Cobian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Satordi Orchua kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Calixto Cobian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenneth Blackham, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 80 minutes into the match, U21 Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Kenneth Blackham came free, but Calixto Cobian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Darin Everett stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of René Descartes's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Adrian Victorero could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Darin Everett made a huge save. When U21 Venezuela's Adrian Victorero, in the 84th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for U21 Venezuela. U21 Venezuela's Calixto Cobian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dani Andrusiow in the 86th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kenneth Blackham in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Calixto Cobian prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 91 minutes into the match, U21 Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Kenneth Blackham came free, but Calixto Cobian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner ended in Dani Andrusiow almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Venezuela's Calixto Cobian did a great save. In the 94th minute, Kenneth Blackham left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Australia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-3. U21 Australia were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of U21 Venezuela for a fine match.
