Jimmy Påk's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Godfried Buskes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. In the 21st minute, Johan Lundqvist made a precise shot to the right of Godfried Buskes. Netherlands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 25 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Godfried Buskes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jimmy Påk. Godfried Buskes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johan Lundqvist in the 28th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Julius Diggele's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stig Siöman was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Sweden's Stig Siöman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julius Diggele in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the game, Sweden's Johan Lundqvist nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Godfried Buskes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. 35 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Johan Lundqvist came free, but Godfried Buskes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Godfried Buskes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johan Lundqvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Johan Lundqvist might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Godfried Buskes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Johan Lundqvist ran back to his position shaking his head. Godfried Buskes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Johan Lundqvist's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. 45 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Godfried Buskes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jimmy Påk. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Johan Lundqvist made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Netherlands's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edvin Boman was slow to take the kick. During this time Sweden's players had a chance to rest. Godfried Buskes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johan Lundqvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Godfried Buskes came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Sweden's Johan Lundqvist. But to his dismay, Johan Lundqvist quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Sweden made a substitution. Hugo Lind replaced Jimmy Påk. After 70 minutes Netherlands's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edvin Boman who took care of the corner kick. In the 70th minute, Johan Lundqvist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Netherlands's Godfried Buskes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johan Lundqvist in the 72nd minute of play. Godfried Buskes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Lind, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 96 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Gert Hofkamp. Sweden's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
