But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nolan Staub couldn't finish the play. With an all-out effort, France's Damian Ellerton threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Baptiste Méziane, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nolan Staub got free with Damian Ellerton in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Northern Ireland getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Steve Barraclough hit a great ball. In the 81st minute, Nolan Staub made a precise shot to the right of Damian Ellerton. Northern Ireland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-9. Damian Ellerton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Farid Armengaud in the 85th minute of play. After 87 played minutes, France's Evan Chamayou shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Damian Ellerton came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in France reached it. After some careless play in the France defense, Vance Crossman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mike Starck. The France fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mike Starck should have stopped the shot. Nolan Staub recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched France eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
