Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Matty Staple got the match started through his kick off. Donavon Mulvihill made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matty Staple in the 3rd minute of play. Donavon Mulvihill made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Sid Palmer sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sid Palmer in the 16th minute of play forced Ireland's goalkeeper Donavon Mulvihill to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donavon Mulvihill made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matty Staple in the 22nd minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Luxembourg's Matty Staple sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Donavon Mulvihill narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Matty Staple's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Donavon Mulvihill was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Donavon Mulvihill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matty Staple, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ireland's goalkeeper Donavon Mulvihill, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luxembourg's Tom Plumber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tyrone McLiam in the 33rd minute of play. Tom Plumber took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tyrone McLiam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes into the game, Ireland's Karim Benzema nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tom Plumber made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Donavon Mulvihill made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Sid Palmer sent off a good shot on target. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Karim Benzema to make the kick off. When Matty Staple came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Luxembourg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matty Staple couldn't finish the play. Tirloch Costello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Donavon Mulvihill showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sid Palmer in the 56th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the game, Matty Staple cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Donavon Mulvihill was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tom Plumber didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Karim Benzema went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Luxembourg made a substitution. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Luxembourg fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ireland had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
