The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Juan Fuentes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pirmin Lizaso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Crane in the 6th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Colombia's Juan Fuentes got a free kick in the 7th minute. U21 Northern Ireland's Jeff Hyde proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Northern Ireland from getting a goal against them. Juan Fuentes struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Jeff Hyde didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Colombia. In the 18th match minute, U21 Northern Ireland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trey Sargent to maneuver through the defense. In the 19th minute, Feliciano Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Denzil Tanner kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 26thth minute of the game Juan Fuentes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Northern Ireland's Jeff Hyde was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Northern Ireland's zone, Juan Fuentes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeff Hyde came out of the goal and Juan Fuentes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A throw-in in the 38th minute of the game was made by Trey Sargent with Cody Griffiths as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 40th minute, Juan Fuentes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Colombia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 44 minutes into the match, U21 Colombia's Juan Fuentes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jeff Hyde narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jeff Hyde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Fuentes, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

U21 Colombia made a substitution. Rafael Castillo replaced Juan Fuentes. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Martin Crane to make the kick off. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Colombia's goalkeeper Pirmin Lizaso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 54th minute, U21 Northern Ireland's Archie Parrott dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Rafael Castillo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jeff Hyde having to make a save. Thanks to some nice moves Archie Parrott could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Pirmin Lizaso however easily saved by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Darren Gunn during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jeff Hyde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Castillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. A hard shot 64 in the game by Archie Parrott from a close distance when the talented Pirmin Lizaso managed to make a qualified save. U21 Colombia's players were relieved. Pirmin Lizaso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Crane, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 74thth minute of the game Rafael Castillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Northern Ireland's Jeff Hyde was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of U21 Northern Ireland booed when U21 Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Castillo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeff Hyde came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Colombia's Rafael Castillo. But to his dismay, Rafael Castillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Virgo Van Dijk hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. 94 minutes into the match, Rafael Castillo notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of U21 Northern Ireland's Jeff Hyde. Jeff Hyde was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. U21 Colombia were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of U21 Northern Ireland for a fine match.
