Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Beppe Maestri started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 3 minutes into the match, U21 Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when Elia Burelli came free, but Mischa Häfeli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Switzerland's Mischa Häfeli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elia Burelli in the 7th minute of play. Dennis Matteucci took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mathis Eberli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alessandro Nesta hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, Irwin Colmano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With 19 minutes on the clock, Fabio Quadrini commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 18th minute, one of U21 Italy:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for U21 Italy. 20 minutes into the game, U21 Switzerland's Choni Lozano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dennis Matteucci made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Mischa Häfeli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elia Burelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. When Damiano Di Carlo came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the U21 Italy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damiano Di Carlo couldn't finish the play. Mischa Häfeli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elia Burelli in the 41st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mathis Eberli got free with Dennis Matteucci in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, U21 Switzerland's Cordell Kaiser got a free kick in the 46th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
Pane Thon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mischa Häfeli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. U21 Italy's Elia Burelli was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 65th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Jules Megnet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dennis Matteucci read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. U21 Italy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Switzerland the free kick. After a rather tough play, U21 Italy's Elia Burelli got a free kick in the 95th minute.
