Mitar Đurković made an important save on a dangerous shot by Brandon McLiam in the 33rd minute. 35 minutes into the match, Dragomir Roganović had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Brennan Dunne. Ireland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dragomir Roganović was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Serbia's goalkeeper Mitar Đurković, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hasan Timotić sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mitar Đurković came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Ireland's Brandon McLiam. But to his dismay, Brandon McLiam quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Serbia made a substitution. Janko Mihajlović replaced Hasan Timotić. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel McLian stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Ireland's Brennan Dunne got control of the ball when Josif Janjić tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ireland's Brennan Dunne played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Janko Mihajlović in the 95th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Janko Mihajlović in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Brennan Dunne saved Ireland from getting behind. Serbia's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Vuk Gošić in the 98th minute. The corner led Serbia's Vuk Gošić to fire away a dangerous shot which Brennan Dunne despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The Serbia players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
