Igor Akinfeev didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Iwo Wolnik went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 12 minutes into the match, Poland's goal looked a bit too open when Kirill Chimevich came free, but Szczepan Czajka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lucjan Puch kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Poland's Szczepan Czajka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Hahnel in the 14th minute of play. Igor Akinfeev made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Janusz Cwynar sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice moves Janusz Cwynar could shoot a difficult shot in the 17th minute, which Igor Akinfeev however easily saved by the left post. Szczepan Czajka showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stepan Vinogradov in the 19th minute of the match. After 19 minutes of play, Russia's Stepan Vinogradov made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Szczepan Czajka was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 21st minute, Andrey Fomich hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot 23 in the game by Iwo Wolnik from a close distance when the talented Igor Akinfeev managed to make a qualified save. Russia's players were relieved. 31 minutes into the match, Poland's goal looked a bit too open when Ilya Kondrashov came free, but Szczepan Czajka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Janusz Cwynar dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Igor Akinfeev, 2-1. Iwo Wolnik scored 3-1 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Igor Akinfeev, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Szczepan Czajka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eric Hahnel, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eric Hahnel made a kick off. In the 51st minute Stepan Vinogradov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Szczepan Czajka saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ilya Kondrashov kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Stanislaw Bronder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Igor Akinfeev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Szczepan Czajka was a little too slow when Stepan Vinogradov got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 71st minute. The score was now 3-2. Russia made a substitution. Leonard Volynin replaced Kirill Chimevich. In the 82nd minute Iwo Wolnik shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Igor Akinfeev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 87 minutes into the game, Poland's Iwo Wolnik nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Igor Akinfeev made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. Igor Akinfeev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iwo Wolnik, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stepan Vinogradov in the 95th minute of play forced Poland's goalkeeper Szczepan Czajka to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
