With an extended leg and a bit of luck Noli Bauta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 14 played minutes U21 Austria got a freekick which was hit by Steffen Bär. Joaquin Rohrmoser took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Noli Bauta. Noli Bauta dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Alexis Guillen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Austria's goalkeeper Noli Bauta, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 22nd minute, Alexis Guillen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Costa Rica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. The U21 Costa Rica fans' excitement grew in the 98th match minute when U21 Costa Rica's Leonel Chavarria looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched U21 Costa Rica eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
