An unexpectedly hard shot by Greger Myr in the 12th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Agostinho Zubeldia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Greger Myr got free with Agostinho Zubeldia in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Agostinho Zubeldia came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Sweden's Agne Fransson. But to his dismay, Agne Fransson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Agostinho Zubeldia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kjell Granqvist in the 21st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kjell Granqvist in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Agostinho Zubeldia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Agne Fransson hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Sweden's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Andreas Käller in the 32nd minute. The corner led Sweden's Andreas Käller to fire away a dangerous shot which Agostinho Zubeldia despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Peru's Agostinho Zubeldia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. Sweden's Rune Eklund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cilio Gambo in the 36th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Sweden's goal looked a bit too open when Cilio Gambo came free, but Rune Eklund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Agostinho Zubeldia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Greger Myr, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 38th minute Greger Myr shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agostinho Zubeldia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes into the game, Alexander Isak recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Agostinho Zubeldia. Alexander Isak showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cilio Gambo to make the kick off. Peru's Agostinho Zubeldia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Greger Myr in the 53rd minute of play. Rune Eklund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baumer Palomar in the 54th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baumer Palomar in the 54th minute of play forced Sweden's goalkeeper Rune Eklund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rune Eklund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oliver Ramon in the 68th minute of play. In the 73rd minute Alexander Isak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agostinho Zubeldia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Sweden's Rune Eklund got control of the ball when Agostinho Bueres tried to sneak it across the goal line. Peru's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
