An unexpectedly hard shot by Marc Gruenewald in the 3rd minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Nestor Amezua to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lütfi Özer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chuan Xandri, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 9th play minute Radamel-Falcao Garcia came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Lütfi Özer. 1-0. When Austria's Marc Gruenewald in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Colombia's goalie prevented a goal. In the 15thth minute of the game Marc Gruenewald who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Colombia's Nestor Amezua was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lütfi Özer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chuan Xandri in the 17th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Colombia's Lütfi Özer threw himself towards the right post 20 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Chuan Xandri, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Lütfi Özer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chuan Xandri, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the match, Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Chuan Xandri came free, but Lütfi Özer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Hermann Nagel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 31st minute Hermann Nagel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Amezua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 32 minutes into the match, Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Chuan Xandri came free, but Lütfi Özer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lütfi Özer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Radamel-Falcao Garcia in the 34th minute. Lütfi Özer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chuan Xandri in the 35th minute of play. After 38 played minutes Colombia got a freekick which was hit by Salvadore Nobal. Mark Mäe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mathias Schmidt during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 43rd match minute, Austria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mathias Schmidt to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 46 minutes, Salvadore Nobal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Colombia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Salvadore Nobal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hermann Nagel was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Colombia's goalkeeper Nestor Amezua had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marc Gruenewald. In the 52nd minute, one of Colombia:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Colombia. Colombia:s Nestor Amezua showed great skill when he stopped Hermann Nagel:s penalty. 66 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Marc Gruenewald came free, but Nestor Amezua reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Colombia's Chuan Xandri in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Austria's goalie prevented a goal. Colombia's Rey Feloaga was substituted for Elazar Busto. Austria's Kai Aufhauser was substituted for Sven Dospel. 72 minutes into the match, Chuan Xandri had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lütfi Özer. Austria's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Chuan Xandri was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Lütfi Özer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Radamel-Falcao Garcia's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. In the 83rd minute Klaus Humpkamp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Amezua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Volli Baller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Nestor Amezua tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 86 minutes Austria's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Juan José Carreño who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Colombia's corner Juan José Carreño fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Lütfi Özer quite easily take care of the ball. Lütfi Özer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chuan Xandri's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. Lütfi Özer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chuan Xandri in the 94th minute of play. Kevin Krölls took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nestor Amezua. Nestor Amezua dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. Austria's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Colombia had won, even though Austria had held more of the ball.
