Kinjata Sangha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isaias Galarneau having to interfere. Isaias Galarneau showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kinjata Sangha in the 38th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jawahara Kamle during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, India's Jawahara Kamle got a free kick in the 42nd minute. 46 minutes into the match, Canada's Donny Lujan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Heman Mahal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. George Best was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling George Best in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Heman Mahal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Best in the 71st minute of play forced India's goalkeeper Heman Mahal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. India's Heman Mahal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Best in the 74th minute of play. Canada made a substitution. India's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kinjata Sangha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kinjata Sangha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Isaias Galarneau read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play.
