Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) 4 minutes in the game, Gaël Legout fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without André Pasciu having to interfere. Gaël Legout might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over André Pasciu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gaël Legout ran back to his position shaking his head. André Pasciu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaël Legout in the 9th minute of play. After having played for 11 minutes, Gaël Legout managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 France's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gaël Legout was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 12 minutes into the match, U21 Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Gaël Legout came free, but André Pasciu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Italy's André Pasciu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaël Legout in the 15th minute of play. If Gaël Legout had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 20th minute, Diogo Leite got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to U21 Italy getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Enzo Iacovone hit a great ball. 30 minutes into the game, Jérémy Gérin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 France's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Italy the free kick. The supporters of U21 Italy booed when U21 France was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jérémy Gérin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francesco Malinconico took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mike Starck. Mike Starck dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. André Pasciu was out of position in the 38 minute of play, and Gaël Legout capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gaël Legout really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After a rather tough play, U21 Italy's Demetrio Di Pietrantonio got a free kick in the 40th minute. Gaël Legout sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th match minute, U21 France was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xavier Ruelle to maneuver through the defense. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Marcel Desalu charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcel Desalu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Mike Starck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Domenico Profeta in the 61st minute of play. If Diogo Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. U21 France made a substitution. Damien Couillard replaced Xavier Ruelle. Diogo Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Pasciu having to interfere. U21 France made a substitution. John-David Le Ny sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 91 minutes into the match, U21 France's John-David Le Ny sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that André Pasciu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jolan Chotard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. André Pasciu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gaël Legout in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg André Pasciu saved U21 Italy from getting behind. U21 France were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
