With a little luck, U21 Slovakia's Miroslav Seman got control of the ball when Lê Cuc tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 28th minute, Róbert Javor got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Lan to strike the kick off in the second half. If Nguyễn Huynh Duc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. U21 Slovakia's Marián Krivý got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jozef Sepeši scored 0-2 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Trần Hoang, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
