Corné Heida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from George Best in the 19th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when George Best got free with Corné Heida in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ger Gerritzen in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enrique Frederick prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If George Best had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robi Lewandowski in the 33rd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Corné Heida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Enrique Frederick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ger Gerritzen, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Robi Lewandowski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Corné Heida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ger Gerritzen in the 41st minute of play forced Canada's goalkeeper Enrique Frederick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 46 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Ger Gerritzen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ger Gerritzen to make the kick off.
