Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 Finland's Miro Kallio started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Miro Kallios short, quick shot in the 3rdth minute got Ernesto Marchi to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 9th minute, Johannes Kurttila hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Ernesto Marchi managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when U21 Finland's Miro Kallio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Alpo Laiho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ernesto Marchi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miro Kallio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 22nd minute, Kosti Brunila hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th match minute, U21 Finland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Konsta Valjakka to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Elias Figueroa managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Chile's supporters rose to their feet, but Elias Figueroa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Niko Kemppainen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Niko Kemppainen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Justino Higuera, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 31st minute, Elias Figueroa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, U21 Finland's Ernesto Marchi threw himself towards the right post 37 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Miro Kallio, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. U21 Finland's Johannes Kurttila pulled a muscle in his leg after 38 minutes and couldn't finish the game. U21 Finland's Raimo Kyrönlahti was substituted for Johannes Kurttila. In the 39th match minute, U21 Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Aspillaga to maneuver through the defense. Konstantin Reponen kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Alpo Laiho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Ernesto Marchi made a huge save. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Chile's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Severi Hautaniemi was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Finland's players had a chance to rest. Severi Hautaniemi made a great header on U21 Finland's corner, it was just that U21 Chile's Ernesto Marchi managed to reach the ball for a save.
Alpo Laiho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Ernesto Marchi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Miro Kallio in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ernesto Marchi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Niko Kemppainen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Manuel Macchiavello in the 67th minute. In the 68th minute U21 Chile were awarded a corner. Elias Figueroa went to the cornerflag to take it. Ernesto Marchi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alpo Laiho in the 70th minute of the match. Ernesto Marchi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miro Kallio in the 71st minute of play. Sid Vicioso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 75th minute, Elias Figueroa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 79 minutes into the match, U21 Finland's Miro Kallio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ernesto Marchi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the U21 Chile defense, Konstantin Reponen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernesto Marchi. The U21 Chile fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernesto Marchi should have stopped the shot. Roni Valkealahti kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Niko Kemppainen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sid Vicioso in the 88th minute of play. Eetu Reimari hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. A collision led to U21 Chile getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Sid Vicioso hit a great ball. Severi Hautaniemi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ernesto Marchi. U21 Chile's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ernesto Marchi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miro Kallio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. U21 Chile's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
