After having played for 21 minutes, 채 유 managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. South Korea's supporters crossed their fingers, but 채 유 was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Latvia's Hugo Zmilusēvičs got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Latvia's Kurts Bode played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 채 유 in the 32nd minute of play. 김 어 made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Gundars Peisatijs sent off a good shot on target. A nice corner shot did that Aivars Erelis got away a dangerous shot. Despite this 김 어 quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 39 minutes into the match, Latvia's goal looked a bit too open when 김 형 came free, but Kurts Bode reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by 채 유 in the 45th minute of play forced Latvia's goalkeeper Kurts Bode to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th match minute, Latvia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Zmilusēvičs to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Kurts Bode as he didn't even see the shot coming. A collision led to Latvia getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Ludis Vilners hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 채 유 in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kurts Bode saved Latvia from getting behind. Kurts Bode made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when 김 형 sent off a good shot on target. 김 형's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 98thth minute, Kurts Bode skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
