After 13 minutes Colombia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Damian Gotzon who took care of the corner kick. When Hipolito Calixto fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Argentina's protests and gave Hipolito Calixto a yellow card for diving instead. Hipolito Calixto hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Martin Ederono blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nestor Amezua having to make a save. Nestor Amezua showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Gotzon, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. With a little luck, Colombia's Nestor Amezua got control of the ball when Damian Gotzon tried to sneak it across the goal line. Martin Ederono fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Amezua having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Argentina's Leonel Quintun got a free kick in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes into the game, Colombia's Rocendo Profitos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luciano Abadia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 40 minutes into the match, Argentina's goal looked a bit too open when Rocendo Profitos came free, but Luciano Abadia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 44 minutes into the game, Martin Ederono cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rocendo Profitos made a kick off. Argentina were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Colombia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Damian Gotzon took the corner. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martin Ederono in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nestor Amezua prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Argentina's Antonio Kiliz was substituted for Damian Gotzon. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonio Kiliz in the 62nd minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Nestor Amezua to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute Juan Ignacio Messi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Amezua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Colombia made a substitution. Gustavo Petro replaced Rocendo Profitos. A throw-in in the 71st minute of the game was made by Leonel Quintun with Ildefonso Gurutz as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. When Gustavo Petro came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Colombia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustavo Petro couldn't finish the play. In the 80th minute, Antonio Kiliz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nestor Amezua was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Juan Ignacio Messi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Nestor Amezua tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 89 minutes into the game, Argentina's Juan Ignacio Messi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nestor Amezua made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. Argentina walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
