Match Report
National Stadium
Spectators: 10300 (Terracing: 7725,
Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 Estonia's Risto Ait started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 8 minutes into the match, U21 Estonia's Roland Õlle sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Amaya Sarang narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 12 minutes, Roland Õlle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Estonia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roland Õlle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. U21 Estonia's Kiur Kurt quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Golap Bisla, made in the 15th minute of the game. In the 18th minute Risto Ait shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amaya Sarang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led U21 Estonia's Villu Tamme to fire away a dangerous shot which Amaya Sarang despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Risto Ait who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Amaya Sarang when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With his leg Amaya Sarang managed to avoid a goal in the 21stth minute, when U21 Estonia's Risto Ait fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Keilor Navas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jayanth Lapang in the 23rd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Roland Õlle kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Amaya Sarang. That made the score 1-0 in the 29 minute of play. Risto Ait was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 36th minute. U21 Estonia's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Bhanuratha Sandhu's late challenge caught a U21 Estonia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bhanuratha Sandhu helped the player get up and apologised. Bhanuratha Sandhu hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Risto Ait hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute, U21 Estonia's Roland Õlle dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
U21 India's Amaya Sarang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Risto Ait in the 52nd minute of play. In the 54th minute, Risto Ait got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 India's goalkeeper Amaya Sarang, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 India's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Villu Tamme was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Estonia's players had a chance to rest. Golap Bisla made in the 65th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by U21 Estonia's Kiur Kurt. 66 minutes into the match, U21 India's goal looked a bit too open when Roland Õlle came free, but Amaya Sarang reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 69 minutes into the game, U21 India's Abhimani Dalvi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Keilor Navas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. U21 India's Adisimah Marak got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Abhimani Dalvi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Roland Õlle notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of U21 India's Amaya Sarang. Amaya Sarang was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Roland Õlle's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Amaya Sarang read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Amaya Sarang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Risto Ait, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Roland Õlle's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Amaya Sarang was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. After 86th play minutes Roland Õlle shot 5-1, a short shot which went by Amaya Sarang and just under the crossbar into goal. Amaya Sarang stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roland Õlle's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. U21 India's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
