Interesting article today saying how by far the largest proportion of bullying and the most devastating bullying (in terms of its affect on people) comes from internet bullying.
What do you think are the best ways to stand up to and deal with these kind of people?

Unlike real life, I think cyber is somewhere that not reacting actually works. If it's sites where you can block people, block them. If it's on forums with moderators, report them. If neither, ignore them or at least don't react in any way rising to the provocation.
Harder for kids who perhaps get a combination of real-world and cyber bullying. Hard to imagine really but I would've thought the general anonymity of the online world is a plus, i.e. if don't use real name, how would they ever find.

its an old un graham, but sometimes the old uns are the best, a bully doesnt like the taste of his/her own medicine, it works for hard line criminals and ten yr olds alike, but a victim should never be allowed to feel isolated, detection is prevention, the ones who fall are those that either do not seek help or are told to just ignore the bullies, but telling a victim to just ignore bullies is a far greater crime than the actual bullying in my book..
the thing about mobile and cyber bullying, is surely the evidence is there for third paries to see, unlike playground/corridor type incidents..

I agree with you, Heddo, on your comments about people who say 'just ignore them'. It's weak, immoral and, most of all, it doesn't work.
Cyber bullies have little sense of shame. They are largely pathetic individuals, insecure, needy, the type who can only make themselves feel good by belittling others.

I just want to know how you can bully someone without actually being able to hit them and take their lunch money!
Maybe you should stop crying and bitching about everything you see around here.
Or just stop trying your best to get me in trouble. Either way is fine by me.
BTW you're actually welcome to come on Friday graham. I really want to get to know the person behind the mask of the net
