NC Interview.
Interview with the new NC, leanjav69
1) Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your team.
Hi, and thank you for this opportunity to get a little closer with our
community. As most of you already know, my name is Leandro, I live in Palm
Beach Gardens, Florida and been playing ManagerZone since 2006. My team is
Talleres U.S. from MLS and I just try my best every day to compete with, what
I believe is a very nice team.
2) Please tell us about your experience(s) as a NC in the past. How did you
decide to run again?
My experience with the National Team has been great all 3 previous times. On
my first term, in late 2009, We did a very good job with both teams, the U-21
made to to the world cup and even we didn't qualified for the best sixteens
round, we played well against teams like the current champion that year
(China), the current European U-21 champion in 09 (Denmark) and powerful
Brazil that in World cup ended on the 2nd place loosing 1-4 against Italy.
With the seniors, we made it all the way to the final game for the first time
ever for the USA NT to get to a final and lost on a very unfair game 1-2
against China, but we outplayed them bad, double them in score chances,
dominating the game from start to finish but they made the goals.
On my second term in early 2010, U-21 did well on the confederation Cup
making it all the way to Semifinals (matched best position ever by a USA U-21
NT)where we lost against Brazil 2-3 where we also played better than our rival
with 9-6 score chances but once again, came back empty handed in that
cup. Brazil ended up taking the trophy home.
With seniors that term was my biggest disappointment ever in ManagerZone so
far and it was very hard for me. We were not able to qualify to the 2010 edition
of the World cup but it was very unfair, I checked the stats in such
competition and it was crazy... team with most goals, best goal difference,
top scorer of the competition and third place top scorer were from the US,
outplayed every team we played but one last game was our only lost that sent
us home with no chance to play the world cup 2010...that was devastating and
is when I decided to step out from the NT for good (that's what I thought).
After being out 6 months and with the new 2011 world cup coming I decided to
run once again looking to make it up top our people because I felt that I
failed my main goal on my previous terms, and came back seeking for revenge. I
won the elections for the third time and played the confederation cup 2011
with the U-21 NT where we lost (no objections here) with Chile 1-2 on the best
16 round.
On the 2011 Seniors World Cup was a great performance for us, we were able to
make it all the way to semifinals (lost against Estonia that took the Cup home
at the end) and we matched the seniors NT record in World cups in ManagerZone
history (4th place in the first world cup ever played. Even tough I wanted
more, it was very good for our country to show the world we are there, that
sooner or later, that cup will travel to USA.
3) What are your impressions about the election? Were you confident of
winning with such a high margin?
Yes, I knew I was going to win because there was no other candidate with a
plan out there on what they was going to do if elected. The other two teams
that ran with me on this past election are very capable of doing it but one is
kind of new and I'm sure he can do a great job in the future and the other
candidate that end up in the second position is a very good manager (and a
friend) that didn't told anyone that was running or showed any planning, but
if he decides to run in the future I can guaranty that he will do a terrific
job.
4) Who are your assistants? Why did you choose them and how will they help
with the national team?
My assistant number 1 is Leandro (yep, same name) from Atherton, he has been
my assistant since day one and is a very great manager, knows a lot about the
game and he is in charge planning the game, I'll say about 60% is him on the
tactics, he has been my assistant since day 1 and I would ever be here with
out him, we spend about 2 hours per day on the phone discussing thing about
the game and other stuffs. Last MLS Champion with the current SIM so I know
that now, more than ever, he is the person I trust the most.
As NCA I picked Sanderson, manager on New England Minas and our last NC, also
a good friend of mine, first time working with him and the reason number one
is because he knows the current players and he also did a great job on his
term in front of the national team. Darkline (manager of MLS Los Buitres)is
also helping us, he will be swapping positions with Sanderson in the next
couple of weeks
5) What are the national team's near future plans? Will you start recruiting
players? What system will you use? Can the community help?
Our first goal is to make it as far s we can with the U-21 National Team, but
the reality is that the team we currently have is going to be hard, I'm not
going to lie, after the last SIM update, many managers left the game and now
we have less than 50% user in United States, but we will do our best to make
it far. We are recruiting players, but as I just mentioned, there are not many
people training youth, I hope that now with the new youth competition,
everything changes for the good of our NT.
If there is something that I always wanted is to work together with the
community, that's how we did it before and that's how we need to do it now, I
CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT THE US COMMUNITY'S HELP. The community has to help if we
want to see out color at the top, how can they help? challenging the National
Teams, sending player to training camp, asking for any advice on how to train
their players, I'm here, just need to ask.
6) What are your objectives for each of the two competitions (seniors and
U21)?
My first objective with the U-21 is to make to the best 16th round, after
that, quarter finals and main goal will be to finish in the top three. With
the seniors is going to be to win the qualification matches first and after
that bring the cup home.
7) Do you have any words to say to the US community?
Thank you for giving me the chance to manage your national team once again,
remember that I will always be there for any of you if I can help.
Thank you for your answers and we hope to have you part the US Zone as often
as possible.
