Forgotten Soccer Legends
Forgotten Soccer Legends
In last edition I had given you some facts about a soccer legend who is not well know but his genius was no less than any player.
Garrincha
Born: October 28, 1933, Magé
Died: January 20, 1983, Rio de Janeiro
Height: 1.69 m
Position: Right Wing
Manuel Francisco dos Santos, known by the nickname "Garrincha", was an association football right winger and forward who helped the Brazil national team win the World Cups of 1958 and 1962
He is known as the greatest dribbler in soccer history. Even though he was born with crippled legs and retained a distorted left leg even after an operation, he never let this affect his wonderful ball skills, making some of the most beautiful soccer performances ever.
Garrincha played 60 games for Brazilian team. With Garrincha, Brazil won 52 games and had 7 draws. Brazil never lost in an international game in which he played. His only loss being for Brazil came in his last game, in the 1966 World Cup in England which was unfortunately his last game.
