Residency days no longer required for Work Permits

Work Permits were added in 2013 as a way for Managers to increase the number of foreign players in their squad, while still having to make an important managerial decision. In order for the Work Permit functionality to integrate seamlessly into the former system, we introduced residency days, meaning that a player would have to play a certain amount of days in your country to qualify for a permit.

Our impression after following recent discussions in the community, however, is that residency days as a requirement for Work Permits has generally been a source of frustration. For Managers who focus mainly on U21 or U23 players, residency days represents a significant disadvantage, and the same can be said for brand new Managers who are forced to a long wait before they can start buying permits.

While residency days initially let us transition from one system to another, they now contribute with little or no value. Work Permits have become a regular part of the game and co-exists smoothly with the normal foreign player quota. One can argue that residency days serve a purpose in evening out the playing field between large and small leagues somewhat, but the regional Work Permit quota lets us do this in a more direct fashion.

So for those reasons, residency days is no longer a requirement for a player to gain a Work Permit. You can now start buying permits for any foreign player, regardless of how many days he has spent in your country.
