U21 Confederations Cup final tonight!

15-03-2017 19:15

After an intense group play and playoff, the U21 Confederations Cup has finally reached the final, where a champion will be crowned. Two latin American nations are fighting for the glory: Argentina vs Peru!

After two straight final losses in 2013 (0-4 against Brazil) and 2014 (2-3 against Uruguay), Argentina finally won their gold medal in 2015, beating Australia with 9-1(!). Now they aim towards collecting their second gold medal, and fourth medal in total, if they manage to beat Peru tonight. Peru have a silver medal to their name from the U21 Confederations Cup in 2009, after losing on penalties in the final against China. Will they be able to improve on that tonight?

On the way to the final, Argentina have knocked out big nations like Australia, China, and finally Chile. Peru were able to knock out the ruling champion, Brazil, in the first playoff match, after an exciting penalty win. They then knocked out Venezuela in the quarter final before ending Paraguay's dream of a final by beating them in the semi final.

In the bronze game Chile takes on Paraguay, after both teams failed to win their semi finals.
