Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ronaldo Fenomeno started the match with the kick off. Fábio Lopez received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nicolas Brand came out and tried to block the shot, but Fábio Lopez slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 5th minute. Cris Marques hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. U21 France's defense didn't have a chance, in the 9th minute, when Fábio Lopez scored to the left of an out of position Nicolas Brand, making the score, 2-0. In the 18th minute Carlos Santillana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alan Loyola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alan Loyola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isaac Tomasini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute Ronaldo Fenomeno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicolas Brand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fábio Lopez hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Fábio Lopez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nicolas Brand having to make a save. Alan Loyola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samir Brahmi in the 37th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, U21 Brazil's Fábio Lopez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nicolas Brand narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.
U21 France's Nicolas Brand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fábio Lopez in the 53rd minute of play. In the 54th minute of the match U21 Brazil got a corner. U21 France's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alfredinho de Alcântara ran over to the corner to take the kick. A sloppy throw-in by Raoul Segui in the 57th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by U21 Brazil's Vitório Salgado.
