The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Libardo Alferez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 7 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Mauricio Sigaran came free, but Fernando Pras reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Palestra do Interior's Perivaldo Carneiro got a free kick in the 16th minute. If Maurinho Matorin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, LenSalvador CF-A.C.S's goal looked a bit too open when Maurinho Matorin came free, but Rafael Anaya reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when LenSalvador CF-A.C.S was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilberto Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, Nelsinho Marinho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rafael Anaya was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauricio Sigaran in the 29th minute of play forced Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Fernando Pras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to LenSalvador CF-A.C.S getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Ernesto Bermudez hit a great ball. LenSalvador CF-A.C.S's Rafael Anaya played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelsinho Marinho in the 35th minute of play. 38 minutes into the game, one of LenSalvador CF-A.C.S:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Nelsinho Marinho walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 40th minute, Palestra do Interior's Ronaldo Pirani ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rafael Anaya. Rafael Anaya yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Perivaldo Gerber kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Fernando Pras showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauricio Sigaran in the 46th minute of the match. After 47 played minutes LenSalvador CF-A.C.S got a freekick which was hit by Dagoberto Vasquez. Nelson Xavier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Anaya having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nelsinho Marinho was the one to do the kick off. Rafael Anaya took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelsinho Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Carlos Eduardo de Amaral replaced Nelson Xavier. Dagoberto Vasquez kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. In the 77th minute, Nelsinho Marinho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rafael Anaya took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelsinho Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute Nelsinho Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Anaya saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in LenSalvador CF-A.C.S's zone, Ronaldo Pirani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rafael Anaya came out of the goal and Ronaldo Pirani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jhalmar Quijada during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to LenSalvador CF-A.C.S getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Jhalmar Quijada hit a great ball. 89 minutes into the game, Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rafael Anaya made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Palestra do Interior had won after a very even match.
