But to his dismay, Edgardo Silva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Tony Pacheco might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Oswaldo Murillo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tony Pacheco ran back to his position shaking his head. Lucjan Gollob tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Oswaldo Murillo. An unnecessary self made goal, 2-0 in the 19th minute. In the 22nd minute, Eusebio Beltran ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jeremy Nicholas was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After 27 played minutes Águilas Poblanas got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Niguel. 30 minutes into the match, Águilas Poblanas's Eusebio Beltran sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jeremy Nicholas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 31 minutes into the match, New England Minas's Alperen Öksüz broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jeremy Nicholas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Edgardo Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Murillo having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Águilas Poblanas made a substitution. Ciro Matai replaced Alfredo Niguel. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edgardo Silva was the one to do the kick off. The audience was convinced that Edgardo Silva's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oswaldo Murillo was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Oswaldo Murillo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tio Lio's shot from short distance in the 91st minute.
