Lanny Gilmore might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iustinian Purcărete. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lanny Gilmore ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 12th minute Lanny Gilmore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iustinian Purcărete saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the game, Vali Penescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. -BZF- Viitorul Buzau's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Santos FC the free kick. The supporters of Santos FC booed when -BZF- Viitorul Buzau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vali Penescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Filip Valerian fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored -BZF- Viitorul Buzau's protests and gave Filip Valerian a yellow card for diving instead. After some careless play in the -BZF- Viitorul Buzau defense, Lanny Gilmore kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iustinian Purcărete. The -BZF- Viitorul Buzau fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iustinian Purcărete should have stopped the shot. After 27 played minutes -BZF- Viitorul Buzau got a freekick which was hit by Dan Senin. In the 27th minute of the match Dominic Albright shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Iustinian Purcărete showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 30 minutes into the match, -BZF- Viitorul Buzau's goal looked a bit too open when Lanny Gilmore came free, but Iustinian Purcărete reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34th minute, Arturo Turner got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the -BZF- Viitorul Buzau defense, Lanny Gilmore kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iustinian Purcărete. The -BZF- Viitorul Buzau fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iustinian Purcărete should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 61st minute of play forced -BZF- Viitorul Buzau's goalkeeper Iustinian Purcărete to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Lanny Gilmore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Iustinian Purcărete showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 64th minute of the match. Cesar Small sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Santos FC's Terence Nicholas quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Vali Penescu, made in the 78th minute of the game. In the 80th minute, Tyron Velasquez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Iustinian Purcărete was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. Iustinian Purcărete made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 10-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Santos FC had played much better football throughout.
