Osvaldinho Ósvaldsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aaron Smallwood read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Aaron Smallwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dave Sylvester in the 38th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldinho Ósvaldsson came free, but Aaron Smallwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dave Sylvester hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Dave Sylvester kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Tyron Velasquez could shoot a difficult shot in the 46th minute, which Jarrod Leary however easily saved by the left post. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Racing Miami Futbol Club's Larry Cermak was substituted for Xu Yuan Lin. Jarrod Leary showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 54th minute of the match. Racing Miami Futbol Club's Jarrod Leary played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tory Weeks in the 56th minute of play. When Tyron Velasquez came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Santos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tyron Velasquez couldn't finish the play. Racing Miami Futbol Club's Chance Adams was substituted for Osvaldinho Ósvaldsson. Jarrod Leary took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lanny Gilmore, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arturo Turner made a great header on Santos FC's corner, it was just that Racing Miami Futbol Club's Jarrod Leary managed to reach the ball for a save. Chance Adams struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Aaron Smallwood didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Miami Futbol Club. Racing Miami Futbol Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dominic Albright ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Santos FC's Dominic Albright to fire away a dangerous shot which Jarrod Leary despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 81stth minute of the game Chance Adams who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lanny Gilmore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarrod Leary having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Chance Adams kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Aaron Smallwood. That made the score 1-1 in the 84 minute of play. In the 88th match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Titus Kohler to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute of the match, Chance Adams got a very nice opportunity to score, but Aaron Smallwood was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 95th minute, Terence Nicholas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jarrod Leary was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1.
