After 11 minutes of play, Botafogo AP's Adalberto Proença made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Adhemar das Neves was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Humberto Maia in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adhemar das Neves saved Red Bull Magnus from getting behind. Clóvis das Neves hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Severino de Sousa was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 21st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 22 minutes, José Pedro Coelho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Botafogo AP and the Red Bull Magnus players grew even worse after the yellow card. Percy Reis had in the 24thth minute some difficulties stopping Severino de Sousa's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Humberto Maia in the 35th minute of play forced Red Bull Magnus's goalkeeper Adhemar das Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jorge Linhares kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. 38 minutes into the match, Botafogo AP's Clóvis das Neves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adhemar das Neves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 41 minutes, Adalberto Proença managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Botafogo AP's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adalberto Proença was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Erasmo de Salles made the kick off in the second half. Frank Goiano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adhemar das Neves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Humberto Maia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Adhemar das Neves made a huge save. Gugu Sá's late challenge caught a Botafogo AP's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gugu Sá helped the player get up and apologised. Humberto Maia kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 61stth minute. Though ot was a great shot Red Bull Magnus's keeper Adhemar das Neves was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. After 63 played minutes Botafogo AP got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Maia. In the 64th match minute, Red Bull Magnus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernandão Mangueira to maneuver through the defense. Frank Goiano hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Botafogo AP made a substitution. André Luís Trigo replaced Humberto Maia. Frank Goiano hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After 75 played minutes, Red Bull Magnus's Maurinho Rosado shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Percy Reis came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Red Bull Magnus reached it. In the 79th minute, André Luís Trigo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Botafogo AP's Dagoberto Paulista was substituted for Agnaldo de Godoi. Jorge Linhares kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. In the 87th minute, Amílton Motta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Red Bull Magnus's zone, Frank Goiano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adhemar das Neves came out of the goal and Frank Goiano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 94th minute Erasmo de Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Percy Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Botafogo AP played a much better game than Red Bull Magnus and deserved their victory. The Red Bull Magnus players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
