DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO were awarded a corner in the 7th minute after Cosmos Soccer Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Garth Burrell took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Garth Burrell got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dan Gheară quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Cosmos Soccer Club's Dan Gheară proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Cosmos Soccer Club from getting a goal against them. DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's Garth Burrell was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dan Gheară in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The supporters of DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO booed when Cosmos Soccer Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kent Cullen didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivan Ţopescu was the one to do the kick off. After 52 played minutes Cosmos Soccer Club got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Ţopescu. Cosmos Soccer Club's Dan Gheară played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kazimierz Traczewski in the 53rd minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's goal looked a bit too open when Kazimierz Traczewski came free, but Dan Gheară reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Quintin Redd hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Cosmos Soccer Club's Dan Gheară tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 89 minutes into the game, Erik Huang was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cosmos Soccer Club the free kick.
