The supporters of Canada booed when Czech Republic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michal Stehno didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Robert Šedina's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gilberto Boone was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. After 41 minutes of play, Czech Republic's Jiří Skrbek made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gilberto Boone was left in no man's land by his defense there! Czech Republic's Pavel Hanka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Murat Dogan in the 45th minute of play. A collision led to Czech Republic getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Jan Plocek hit a great ball. The Canada players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Czech Republic were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Murat Dogan made a kick off. Michal Stehno kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. Metin Tekin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Pavel Hanka tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Robert Šedina in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilberto Boone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Murat Dogan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Pavel Hanka tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Šedina in the 60th minute of play forced Canada's goalkeeper Gilberto Boone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
