In the 11th minute, Santo Panpili hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th minute of the game Abel Txatxu made a throw-in which Godfredo Efraim played forward. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Lanús made a substitution. Eloy Gaskon replaced Roberto Puch. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luciano Sadurni to make the kick off. Manuel Neuer made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Santo Panpili sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Lanús had won after a very even match.
