To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jens Sandell hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 张战彬 in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Niklas Kvick prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 张战彬 took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Niklas Kvick. Niklas Kvick dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Olympiakos were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after Helsingborg IF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tobias Haraldsson took the corner. Niklas Kvick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 张战彬, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd match minute, Helsingborg IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustaf Hård to maneuver through the defense. Jan Malmberg kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 30th minute Leigh Blake shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niklas Kvick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Braulio Corderro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan Malmberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Gaudencio Ignazio fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Helsingborg IF's protests and gave Gaudencio Ignazio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 35th minute, Gaudencio Ignazio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute, 张战彬 ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Niklas Kvick was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Ziemowit Wawak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Braulio Corderro having to interfere. After 45 played minutes Helsingborg IF got a freekick which was hit by Bengt-Arne Tönnberg. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jan Malmberg made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 张战彬 in the 50th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Niklas Kvick saved Helsingborg IF from getting behind. After 53 played minutes Helsingborg IF got a freekick which was hit by Edwin Hammarbäck. The crowd rose to their feet as Leigh Blake kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Niklas Kvick. That made the score 0-5 in the 58 minute of play. Niklas Kvick didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leigh Blake went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. Niklas Kvick made an important save on a dangerous shot by Harold Coenens in the 68th minute. Jens Sandell hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, 张战彬 took a quick shot and it went in 0-8 without a chance for Niklas Kvick to make any attempt to save it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leigh Blake got free with Niklas Kvick in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Braulio Corderro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bengt-Arne Tönnberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. After 85 minutes of play, Olympiakos's 张战彬 made it 0-9 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Niklas Kvick was left in no man's land by his defense there! Niklas Kvick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 张战彬 in the 88th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Helsingborg IF's zone, Henrik Grönlund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niklas Kvick came out of the goal and Henrik Grönlund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 95 played minutes Olympiakos got a freekick which was hit by Harold Coenens. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Olympiakos walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
