Kornél Hajdú tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Szentgotthárd's Kornél Hajdú played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zoltán Varga in the 6th minute of play. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gyál United's goalkeeper Horaţiu Petran, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 12 minutes into the match, Gyál United's goalkeeper Horaţiu Petran had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by József Sallói. 13 minutes into the game, József Sallói recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Horaţiu Petran. József Sallói showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After 17 minutes of play, Szentgotthárd's József Sallói made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Horaţiu Petran was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Konstantinos Kroustallis in the 24th minute of play forced Szentgotthárd's goalkeeper Kornél Hajdú to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Szentgotthárd's goal looked a bit too open when Erwin Bienvenu came free, but Kornél Hajdú reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th match minute, Szentgotthárd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zoltán Nyilasi to maneuver through the defense. Kornél Hajdú showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vacib 林义义 in the 29th minute of the match. In the 31st minute of the match, Konstanty Dzierwa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Horaţiu Petran saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Kornél Hajdú made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Konstantinos Kroustallis in the 34th minute of play. 37 minutes into the game, Szentgotthárd's Konstanty Dzierwa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Horaţiu Petran made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. After 42 minutes of play, Gyál United's Zoltán Varga made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kornél Hajdú was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Zoltán Nyilasi fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Szentgotthárd's protests and gave Zoltán Nyilasi a yellow card for diving instead. Zoltán Nyilasi hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vacib 林义义 in the 48th minute of play forced Szentgotthárd's goalkeeper Kornél Hajdú to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell József Sallói to make the kick off. After 54 minutes, József Sallói made it 4-1 with a short kick to the right side. Gyál United's Horaţiu Petran tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Horaţiu Petran showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from József Sallói in the 58th minute of the match. Konstanty Dzierwa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 81 minutes into the game, Szentgotthárd's Konstanty Dzierwa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Horaţiu Petran made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-1. Horaţiu Petran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from József Sallói, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Gyál United defense, Konstanty Dzierwa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Horaţiu Petran. The Gyál United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Horaţiu Petran should have stopped the shot. Gyál United's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
