In the 15th minute, Stephan Wivell had to leave the field with a concussion. Zack Bennett's late challenge caught a Liverpool East FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. In the 27th minute Brook Munster shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonty Starling saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Andre Nolan in the 34th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Liverpool East FC's Elias Bogren. 37 minutes into the match, Rutgers Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Barnes Muggleton came free, but Murdock Reisz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Liverpool East FC were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Rutgers Utd's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bran Fulton took the corner. The corner ended in Bran Fulton almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Rutgers Utd's Murdock Reisz did a great save. Brandon Kaine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murdock Reisz having to interfere. 43 minutes into the game, Donovan Hogan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Murdock Reisz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Liverpool East FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Murdock Reisz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 78 minutes into the match, Liverpool East FC's goal looked a bit too open when Al Allen came free, but Jonty Starling reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 80 minutes of play, Rutgers Utd's Al Allen made it 1-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The supporters of Rutgers Utd booed when Liverpool East FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carleton Lewry didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonty Starling took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Al Allen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
