In the 18th minute Emanuel Vigil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremy Nicholas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in New England Minas's zone, Emanuel Vigil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremy Nicholas came out of the goal and Emanuel Vigil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jeremy Nicholas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cafu de Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 24th minute New England Minas were awarded a corner. Ye Gang Cheng went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Conny Tingberg heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Jeremy Nicholas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Paul Crouch, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Barra Gol was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Barra Gol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Pacheco in the 78th minute of play. 80 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ribeirão das Neves EC MG's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ye Gang Cheng was slow to take the kick. During this time New England Minas's players had a chance to rest. Ribeirão das Neves EC MG's Leonel Pinheiro quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ye Gang Cheng, made in the 87th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Ribeirão das Neves EC MG's Leonel Pinheiro got a free kick in the 89th minute. Ye Gang Cheng recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A sloppy throw-in by Leonel Pinheiro in the 94th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by New England Minas's Ye Gang Cheng. With a little luck, New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas got control of the ball when Peter Paul Crouch tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ribeirão das Neves EC MG's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
