The mood of the audience was pleasant when Wilco Craandijk made the kick off which started today's match. Giovanni Baalman didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ziemowit Kasperowicz went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After 6 played minutes U21 Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Coos Eising. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Michal Piszczek managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Poland's supporters rose to their feet, but Michal Piszczek was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Giovanni Baalman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Giovanni Baalman was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ziemowit Kasperowicz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 14 minute of play. Giovanni Baalman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waclaw Motyl in the 18th minute of play. In the 18th match minute, U21 Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Youri Bender to maneuver through the defense. In the 21st minute Iwan Snoeks shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Łukasz Fabiański saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Giovanni Baalman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaw Dzerwucki in the 24th minute of play. U21 Poland's Łukasz Fabiański played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Youri Bender in the 30th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 32 minutes, Giovanni Baalman successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michal Ostrowski in the 32nd minute of play forced U21 Netherlands's goalkeeper Giovanni Baalman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, U21 Poland's Ziemowit Kasperowicz got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Miromir Pozorski blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Giovanni Baalman having to make a save. U21 Netherlands's Giovanni Baalman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save U21 Netherlands from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Igor Chazen during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Igor Chazen hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iwan Snoeks in the 45th minute of play forced U21 Poland's goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 46 minutes, Youri Bender mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Netherlands and the U21 Poland players grew even worse after the yellow card. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Giovanni Baalman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ziemowit Kasperowicz, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After 61 played minutes U21 Poland got a freekick which was hit by Waclaw Motyl. A collision led to U21 Poland getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Roch Trela hit a great ball. U21 Netherlands made a substitution. Serge Ponk replaced Coos Eising. U21 Netherlands's Nigel Kuijsten was substituted for Jan Peppinck. After a rather tough play, U21 Poland's Roch Trela got a free kick in the 69th minute. If Wilco Craandijk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th minute of the match U21 Netherlands got a corner. U21 Poland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daley Blind ran over to the corner to take the kick. Norbert Tyskie tried in the game's 74th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Łukasz Fabiański. An annoying self made goal, 2-1. Giovanni Baalman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ziemowit Kasperowicz in the 82nd minute of play. U21 Poland's Łukasz Fabiański played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilco Craandijk in the 84th minute of play. Łukasz Fabiański showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilco Craandijk, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. After having played for 85 minutes, Gustaw Dzerwucki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Poland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustaw Dzerwucki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Giovanni Baalman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ziemowit Kasperowicz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The U21 Poland fans cheered their team off the field, for while U21 Netherlands had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
