Phillip Sephiri in the 6thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Libardo Bran, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. South Africa's Boubacar Barry played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronald Sandoval in the 7th minute of play. 8 minutes had been played when some careless play by South Africa's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Felipe Berrueta was slow to take the kick. During this time Honduras's players had a chance to rest. In the 10th minute Harry Machete shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Libardo Bran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Boubacar Barry stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcos Padilla's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. Phillip Sephiri came free with the goalkeeper in the 12th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Libardo Bran could save by the left post. When the match clock showed 13 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Phillip Sephiri sped through Honduras's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Libardo Bran. Felipe Berrueta took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 17th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Boubacar Barry. South Africa's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Timothy Mangope took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Libardo Bran. Libardo Bran dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. 24 minutes into the match, Honduras's Marcos Padilla sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Boubacar Barry narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Timothy Mangope sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 26 minutes into the match, Honduras's goal looked a bit too open when Harry Machete came free, but Libardo Bran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After taking down the ball on South Africa's corner John Thebe fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Libardo Bran quite easily take care of the ball. 35 minutes into the match, South Africa's Harry Machete sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Libardo Bran narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 36 minutes Honduras's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was John Thebe who took care of the corner kick. Phillip Sephiri's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 40thth minute, Libardo Bran skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 41st minute, Ronald Sandoval left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Honduras fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Libardo Bran made an important save on a dangerous shot by Phillip Sephiri in the 43rd minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Honduras fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 44th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 46 minutes, South Africa's John Thebe got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Libardo Bran. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

In the 52nd minute, Dumisane Sephiri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Libardo Bran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phillip Sephiri in the 54th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Timothy Mangope's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Libardo Bran was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. In the 57th minute, Phillip Sephiri made a precise shot to the right of Libardo Bran. Honduras's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Honduras's Amilcar Giron was substituted for Misael Santamaria. Boubacar Barry came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Honduras's Ronald Sandoval. But to his dismay, Ronald Sandoval quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronald Sandoval in the 67th minute of play forced South Africa's goalkeeper Boubacar Barry to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute, Juan Flamenco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 74 minutes into the match, South Africa's Phillip Sephiri sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Libardo Bran narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Phillip Sephiri in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Libardo Bran prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lesego Nunes in the 82nd minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Libardo Bran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The South Africa fans' excitement grew in the 87th match minute when South Africa's Lesego Nunes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 95th minute, Phillip Sephiri ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Libardo Bran was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-2. After 97 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Benji Villarreal. Timothy Mangope fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Libardo Bran having to interfere. Honduras's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
