Hrvoje Matoš could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Bastian Pretzer made a huge save. Peer Stocker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Mijat Kresić tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22ndth minute of the game Peer Stocker who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Croatia's Mijat Kresić was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bastian Pretzer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferenc Puskás in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonas-Andreas Tünnissen in the 27th minute of play forced Croatia's goalkeeper Mijat Kresić to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute of the match Austria got a corner. Croatia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hüseyin Sağlam ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Hüseyin Sağlam almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Croatia's Mijat Kresić did a great save. Croatia's Mijat Kresić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hubert Frankfurter in the 31st minute of play. Bastian Pretzer made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Hrvoje Matoš sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Croatia booed when Austria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hubert Frankfurter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bastian Pretzer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Radoslav Škoro in the 40th minute. With his leg Bastian Pretzer managed to avoid a goal in the 40thth minute, when Croatia's Hrvoje Matoš fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ferenc Puskás kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rafael Vida got free with Bastian Pretzer in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dobriša Poslek kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After 46 played minutes Austria got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Tschida. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Tomica Lešina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Croatia's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomica Lešina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bastian Pretzer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Peer Stocker to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Daniel Tschida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 57th minute Rafael Vida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bastian Pretzer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bastian Pretzer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafael Vida in the 59th minute of the match. Croatia's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomica Lešina in the 60th minute. The corner ended in Tomica Lešina almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Austria's Bastian Pretzer did a great save. Austria's Bastian Pretzer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jure Salzer in the 62nd minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Hrvoje Matoš came free, but Bastian Pretzer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Jonas-Andreas Tünnissen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mijat Kresić was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Austria's Jonas-Andreas Tünnissen in the 81st minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Mijat Kresić was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Croatia through an amazing save. Austria's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hüseyin Sağlam in the 83rd minute. A very nice done corner allowed Hubert Frankfurter to score against Mijat Kresić in Croatia's goal. 0-1 after 83 minutes. In the 92nd minute, Hrvoje Matoš ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bastian Pretzer was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
