Albania were awarded a corner in the 6th minute after South Africa's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sabian Hila took the corner. Lutfi Curri was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 12 minutes into the game, Kajo Sinani threw the ball into play from the sideline. South Africa's Wycliffe Sibeko quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Fuzile Mabele took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sali Berisha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fuzile Mabele showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lutfi Curri, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The supporters of Albania booed when South Africa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Akil Mahlangu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fuzile Mabele made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sali Berisha in the 24th minute of play. Vuyani Okpara lost his temper 27 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 27 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for South Africa! South Africa:s Fuzile Mabele showed great skill when he stopped Sabian Hila:s penalty. In the 29th minute, Sabian Hila made a precise shot to the right of Fuzile Mabele. South Africa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Lesego Nunes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Drino Lila made a huge save. In the 32nd match minute, Albania was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduard Allamani to maneuver through the defense. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind South Africa's goalkeeper Fuzile Mabele, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Albania getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Lutfi Curri hit a great ball. Albania's Drino Lila played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lesego Nunes in the 42nd minute of play. In the 43rd minute, Kajo Sinani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

South Africa's Jeff Maduna was substituted for Wycliffe Sibeko. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lesego Nunes made a kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 52 minutes, Fuzile Mabele successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Fuzile Mabele didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sali Berisha went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After 66 minutes, Ermal Edison mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Albania and the South Africa players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ermal Edison kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. The Albania fans' excitement grew in the 70th match minute when Albania's Eljon Sheta looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The supporters of Albania booed when South Africa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mawetu Modipa didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 77th minute by Lutfi Curri got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Zymbyl Hajdaraj took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Fuzile Mabele to make any attempt to save it. Albania's Eljon Sheta got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, South Africa's Noxolo Mufadi got a free kick in the 85th minute. Fuzile Mabele made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Eljon Sheta sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lesego Nunes in the 88th minute of play forced Albania's goalkeeper Drino Lila to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 88 played minutes Albania got a freekick which was hit by Lutfi Curri. Harry Machete hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Eljon Sheta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Albania booed when South Africa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harry Machete didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Albania had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
